Ceol Mor a success at Trad Music Awards

The AIYF's Trad Music Big Band - Ceol Mor - along with special guests including Jenna Reid, wowed the crowds at the Trad Music Awards in Fort William.

"traditional music is young people's music.... It flew off the stage with the massed fiddles, brass and tight rhythms of Aberdeen International Youth Festival's folk orchestra, Ceol Mor."

The Herald - review of Trad Music Awards

The festival is especially pleased that the band managed to get back together for the performance, as not only were members playing the night before in London, but two had to travel all the way from Canada especially for the performance.

Youth Music Theatre UK at AIYF

YMT: UK will be holding a Studio at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.

The Studio is for you if you’re keen on acting or singing or dancing or all three. You love drama or musical theatre. You play an instrument at whatever grade. You’ve got a long school or college holiday ahead and nothing planned - sign up for The Studio now!

YMT: UK have put together top teams of directors, composers and choreographers who will give you the chance to work together in one week to create a brand new piece of theatre. You don’t have to audition - anyone can sign up, and they really do, from all over the UK and from abroad. This year we had young people from Belgium, Italy, Cyprus, Monaco, Thailand, Tanzania and Canada as well as from across the UK.

Residential accommodation is provided at the University of Aberdeen, alongside International Youth Festival participants from all over the world.

YMT: UK are also holding auditions to join their 2007 company, at Aberdeen Arts Centre on Saturday 10 February. Performances of the 8 shows will take place across the UK, including at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.

New logo for Grampian Youth Orchestra

Grampian Youth Orchestra is being given a new identity by The Agency.

The brand has been created by Agency Design Director Richard Phillips and was produced to evoke the vitality and energy expressed by the GYO at last year's inaugural concert.

The dynamic brand will be applied to a range of marketing material, including the GYO's very own website and T-shirt.
