AIYF Compose!
 
University of Aberdeen Music Prize Weekend

The University of Aberdeen Music Prize is a celebration of musical creativity. The programme of hands-on events, workshops, talks and concerts for people of all ages and all musical abilities runs from 26-29 April 2007. At the heart of this packed programme is the judging of an exciting international prize for new composers - The Aberdeen Prize.

As part of the programme we are delighted to present some unique workshops and concerts specifically for young people. These include AIYF Compose! Aberdeen International Youth Festival and the University of Aberdeen have created AIYF Compose! an inspirational and innovative venture for young composers.

AIYF Compose! Workshops
2:30pm - 6:00pm
King's College Chapel (Invitation Only)

A number of young composers from the region have been writing short pieces for String Quartet. During the workshop the young composers will receive specialist input from leading composer Judith Weir and have an opportunity to work with Scotland's foremost chamber group, the Hebrides Ensemble.

AIYF Compose! Concert
6:30pm - 7:30pm
King's College Chapel, Admission free
The Hebrides Ensemble will premiere the work of our young Composers: Kirsty Robertson, Sally Dodds, Jeremy Coleman, Lliam Patterson and Dmitri Olayzola. The concert will also include a performance of "Bagpipers Trio" by Judith Weir.

NTS Black Watch Workshop Programme
 
Tuesday 4 April, 2pm-5pm

The Making of Black Watch
Join the director and the creative team of Black Watch in a fast paced intense exploration of the process of making this world class piece of theatre. Using all the same methods, tricks, techniques and the most innovative technology you will work with the directors, designers, artists and actors to create your very own piece of verbatim theatre.

Suitable for anyone over 14 years

Backstage Tours

Pre show backstage tours guided by a member of the company. Open to all.
